Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to do any of this?
You will probably need both experience and qualifications to gain interviews and a good salary. We can identify relevant experiences and understand the skills you can transfer. Qualifications can provide opportunities for better employment and higher salaries.
What if I don’t know what I will be good at?
No problem. If you don’t know what you want to do or what you will be good at, we can refer you to Steve our in-house careers planner/psychologist for a free 20 minute discussion. He will use more in-depth questionnaires to discover your strengths and suggest a route to follow. He will work out a programme with you. Often just looking at the jobs market will help you identify what might be good options.
I am not sure what route to take or where I am going. I want the cheapest, quickest, and easiest way to improve my qualifications.
That’s fine. We deal with all sorts of qualifications and can refer you to companies who specialise in industry-specific courses if that’s your choice. Alternatively, we can organise routes into the trades: plumbing, renewable energy, electrician, etc. We even have groups that offer training as a personal trainer, nutritionist, yoga or pilates teacher etc. There’s a wide range of options, and we can help you clarify your choices.
I know what I want to achieve but need support with the qualifications and finding work experience.
That’s easy. We have a lot of information relating to qualifications – academic and professional – so we can think all that through together.
I have years of experience — how can this be used?
Your professional and life experience can be formally recognised as part of your learning journey. We assess relevant prior experience and, where appropriate, translate it into recognised academic credit or use it to support direct progression onto postgraduate-level study. We also guide you through structured reflection to help identify your strengths, transferable skills, and areas of expertise — ensuring your experience works for you. Book a conversation with us and we’ll explain your options clearly and help you identify the most suitable pathway.
I have already set myself up in a business but maybe need to broaden my personal qualifications in case things do not work out.
We can develop a route and qualifications to fit around your present circumstances. If you need help developing your business, we have a network of people and groups who might be able to support you.
I’m not academic/smart enough.
This is a common statement. Whilst academic courses aren’t for everyone, you might be surprised at the number of people with no academic background we have helped achieve high marks in in different MAs such as Strategic Business Studies. We never set you up to fail, and our personal tutors provide excellent support. Your experiences in life will help you think and cope academically. YOU WILL BE FINE!
I haven’t got a degree and really haven’t studied for a number of years.
Our academic programmes and qualifications are at level 7 (post-graduate). Despite what you think, we believe that with the right support and guidance you will be able to by-pass the under-graduate level and work directly on relevant masters programmes. A masters degree is seen by employers as a high level of achievement, which opens doors to interviews and commensurate salaries. Our access programme is designed to give you the skills to succeed at masters level. We set you up to succeed, not to fail. We do all negotiations for you to gain places on MSc’s, MAs or MBAs.
We don’t deal with under-graduate degrees but instead develop your skills to by-pass this stage to obtain a masters degree. (Think of the savings: 3 years of high fees and living costs!) We also work with a range of professional qualifications and level 3 and 5 apprenticeships. We can look at most options.
How do I get a new job for a decent salary?
Here we need to match jobs with your skills and requirements: the qualifications will fit in with the role you want. The more qualifications you have, the better your potential salary.
I am concerned about depression and the mental health issues I have heard about.
This is an issue for many who find their present working environment coming to an end. However, if you are involved in something else with a purpose, that both fits around present commitments, and offers a path to new employment and opportunities, this may be of great value.
We work hard to find you the best options for all courses, which are competitively priced.
Let’s get going!! We are looking forward to working with you!
