Rather than asking you to begin a qualification from the start, we help you identify the knowledge, skills and professional judgement you have already developed and demonstrate how that learning aligns with university standards.

What do APEL, APCL and RPL mean?
APEL recognises learning gained through professional and life experience. APCL considers previous certified learning. RPL is the wider process of recognising relevant prior learning.
The university decides whether and how prior learning counts towards admission or credit under its own policies.
Where can ELRF take you?
Depending on your experience and a university’s Recognition of Prior Learning policies, ELRF may support progression to:
- Undergraduate certificates and foundation degrees
- Bachelor’s degrees and final-year (Level 6) top-up programmes
- Postgraduate study, where appropriate
